Program Description
Centro San José Family Center, funded by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the United Way of Greater New Haven, provides services to parents and caregivers designed to improve the school readiness and success of young children. Using a family-centered, strengths-based approach, we partner with families and empower them to obtain more satisfying experiences raising children by offering a comprehensive range of parent support and education programs.
Services Provided
A flexible schedule for services is provided to accommodate both working and at-home parents. Childcare is provided while attending classes. Our list of resources available for families is as follows:
- Parenting Education and Support
Parent and Child Advocacy, Parenting Workshops including Circle of Security Parenting Groups - Adult Education and Employment Services
Weekly Job and Apartment Listings - Quality Care and Education
Youth Program – for youth ages 12-18
School Readiness Program – full day, full year for children ages 3-5 - Basic Human Needs
Food Pantry, Diaper Bank, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach & Enrollment - Cultural/Special Events
Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, Three Kings Day Celebration-Toy Drive - Child Development Center
Hours: Full year/full day 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Children 3 to 5 years old and not yet ready for kindergarten

Eligibility
The programs and services are available and open to all in the community. The School Readiness program serves children living in New Haven.
