Dear Birth Parents,
We can’t even imagine how difficult this must be for you and admire your bravery during this difficult time. It has been a long road for the both of us as well. We’ve been waiting for the day to hold our child as long as we can remember. Even though we don’t know each other, we have a lot in common which is the desire to give your child the best life possible. We look forward to meeting with you and having you get to know us better. We hope with this website, you’ll be able to get an idea of our lives and feel comfortable with your child as part of it.
We’ve been together for 7 years and married for 4 years. We were introduced through a good friend. We had an immediate attraction and our personalities clicked. Greg always says, “I knew she was the one the first time I met her.” Greg proposed to Amy with an engagement ring tied around our puppy’s neck! That puppy’s name (who is not a puppy anymore) is Kumo and is a German Shepherd, but don’t be nervous…he’s a mush! He loves children and is mainly a couch potato!
Greg is a quiet, realistic, caring, and friendly person. Amy tends to be more outgoing, bubbly, and nurturing. We equal each other out very nicely. We both enjoy humor a lot and love to tell jokes numerous times a day. Amy always says, “When I’m having a bad day, I just can’t wait to go home and eat dinner and watch a Netflix with Greg.”
We love to spend time together and are very family oriented. We equal each other out because Amy loves to talk and Greg is very quiet. We love to go camping so that we can play boardgames, go for hikes, and who can forget about the smores! We go away for a long weekend every summer to nearby places (Block Island, Cape Cod, Maine, Newport, etc.). Since we love Christmas, our tradition is to buy an ornament from every vacation spot we go to so that we can add our memories to the tree. We also love to watch movies and grill out on our new patio. We await the day for our little one to join us!
We bought a two bedroom Cape 2 years ago, which everyone says looks like a dollhouse and we love it! We have a huge yard and our neighborhood is quiet (great street to learn to ride a bike), neighbors are very friendly, and are located in a great school district. We recently added a garden to our yard and loved eating fresh vegetables and fruits over the summer.
Greg not only works at a bike shop, but cycling is his main hobby. He is very health conscious and loves to ride his bike. Amy is a School Counselor in an elementary and middle school. She loves baking, cooking, running, and scrapbooking. Because of our jobs and personalities, we feel that we will make great parents!
Christmas is our favorite holiday and we go all out! We go every year to cut down a tree, decorate it while the fireplace is on and Christmas music in the background. Greg hangs all the lights outside and makes his famous hot chocolate…yummy! Amy will bake her Christmas cookies, which make the whole house smell like the holidays. Afterwards, we go outside to sled and make a snowman…even though its nose is always missing, because Kumo loves carrots!
We are both very close with our families. We see our parents and siblings weekly and they are all very supportive and excited to meet the new addition to our family. Amy’s parents are both retired and live only 5 minutes away…they are all ready to babysit and watch the baby while we’re at work. We also have a lot of friends and family who have adopted. We are so lucky to have such a great support system.
We really appreciate you taking the time to get to know us a little better. We’d be more than happy to tell you more about us and answer any questions that you might have. If you are interested in meeting with us, please contact our social worker at Catholic Charities at 203-596-9359 ext. 228.
We look forward to a child coming into our lives.
Amy and Greg
