The Family Center at Parker Memorial is part of the Brighter Futures Initiative of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Led by a parent advisory group and in collaboration with the City of Hartford, Department of Health and Human Services, the Family Center at Parker Memorial Community Center educates parents on topics ranging from promoting literacy development in their children to financial management through programming in core areas specially designed for parents of young children.
The Family Center at Parker Memorial is housed in the City of Hartford’s newly restored Parker Memorial Recreation Center on Main Street near Brackett Park. The Parker Memorial Recreation Center includes basketball and volleyball courts, a pool, locker room, exercise equipment, a community room, kitchen and game rooms.

Connecting Families to the Community
The Family Center collaborates with other community providers and also provides families with information on community resources and workshops on a variety of topics including parenting, health and nutrition, HUSKY health insurance, child development, child care, money management, cultural diversity, as well as other topics requested by parents.
Catholic Charities collaborates with the City of Hartford, Department of Health and Human Services and other community stakeholders to engage, recruit, and retain families from Hartford’s Northeast and Clay Arsenal neighborhoods and the Parker Memorial Recreation programs.
